Floor lamps are an ideal way to make a quick revamp to a room where space may be limited. Modern floor lamps tend to have a very narrow profile and can stand happily in a corner so that most rooms can accommodate one.however for for rooms whish have a little extra space to spare then you can find a great selection of traditional floor lamps. Adding a floor lamp is a simple way of lighting where a wall lamp might be a choice, as with a simple wall socket to make the lamp work there is no need for costly and disruptive electrical work.

Arc floor lamps are particularly appropriate for rooms where someone might be working while others relax, play games or watch television. The type sometimes known as ‘mother and child’ or reading floor lamps, with a tall uplighter and a focused beam for close work would be particularly useful in this situation. The arc floor lamp style is also very good where space is at a premium as they can be pushed out of the way when they are no longer needed. Many come with dimmers and Lighting Majestic put full details of all the extras on the web page for each lamp.

Uplighter floor lamps are very stylish and are often used to illuminate a dark corner, for example under open plan stairs or a similar location. Softer in their illumination than arc floor lamps or the more traditional standard lamps which all direct their light downwards, uplighter floor lamps are more give a more ambient light to work by. For this reason they can also add a great deal to the atmosphere of a room and work particularly well in lounge-diners and similar dual purpose rooms.

Many people don’t think of floor lamps as a real decorating option; however, after a visit to Lighting Majestic to see the huge range available which includes fine Italian floor lamps as well as the David Hunt range among hundreds of other design options, they may change their minds. The more  standard incandescent lamps with their relatively large footprint are still available, and in a cottage or retro setting they look amazing, but there are so many different designs of floor lamp available now that there is something for everywhere in the house. For a kitchen diner, a floor lamp in the corner would give a good working light whilst creating a restful ambience for eating by.

A floor lamp with matching table lamp would provide a very cost effective way of making a room look as if it has had a major makeover, especially if the shades create a focal point of colour in an otherwise understated decor.
