Lantern Lights

Lantern Lights

There is perhaps nothing quite like a traditional lantern light to introduce a touch of old English charm and sophistication into a room’s décor. The range includes a great selection of styles and finishes including antique brass for a traditional setting and Chromes which work great with modern design concepts.

Lantern lights are an excellent way of lighting a room or hallway, stairs or landing in a traditional property. Because they will always be in keeping with the date of the building, then it will mean that once they are in place you can change the decor as much as you like and the lights will always look right. Here at Lighting Majestic we have a great range of lanterns, both wall lights and pendant lights, so you can carry the traditional look right through the house and even to the outside. There are plenty in the range which are suitable for outdoor use, even an old fashioned lamp-post which would look great anywhere in the garden.

The Lambeth antique brass lantern is very versatile as it can be mounted as a ceiling light or a pendant and therefore the same design can be used in more than one place, such as over the dining table as a pendant and in the hallway as a ceiling light, whilst keeping an overall design throughout. The Lambeth is also available in polished brass and many of the range are available in different finishes. This also helps if you are trying to create an overall appearance but might have different colours or metals predominant in different rooms which you want to blend with or match.

Lantern lights have been popular for many years but it is only relatively recently with the possibility of using more than one bulb in a reasonably small fitment that they have been able to be used to give a good light, so they were usually used as mood lighting. A popular lantern in the range at Lighting Majestic gives the appearance of an uplighter and this is particularly effective used in alcoves or under open plan staircases. Lanterns can be either mainly brass, to give a subtle light, or mainly glass where a brighter light is needed. There is even a very modern lamp in the range which is specifically designed for use in the bathroom which certainly gives a very different twist on the basic lantern shape, so proving that lantern lights don’t have to be traditional.

Tiffany lamps are one of the most classic designs in lighting, and the lantern version available from Lighting Majestic is a beauty. The traditional lines and the attractive colours make this the kind of lantern which would be comfortable in any setting, modern or more retro and because it is such a classic it will stand the test of time to perfection.
