SIngle pendant lights give great focused light and are therefore excellent for anywhere you need to see a little more clearly, for example over the dining table or in an area where the children do homework or perhaps someone does a craft activity or a lot of paperwork. But pendant lighting does not have to be boring and it can still be very much a part of the all-over design of the room and with the choice of hundreds different designs available here at Lighting Majestic, there is certainly something for every setting.

Single Pendant lighting is multi-purpose rooms because it can be directed over the place it is needed, leaving the rest of the room to enjoy its own appropriate mood lighting. With open plan becoming more usual in new build homes, choosing a pendant light for one end of the room is an answer to a potential lighting problem. If the dining table is the focus of interest in the room, a Diner style pendant light would be good fun and there are several to choose from in the Lighting Majestic range. The American Diner, which comes in different finishes, gives a real pre-war soda fountain look, and anyone who has enjoyed the various films set in this era, or the fantasy Pleasantville will find this design great fun and a real start to designing the room around it. The simpler metal Café designs are also great fun to put over a dining table and just cry out for gingham table cloths and cushions.

Breakfast bars are the modern equivalent of the old fashioned breakfast room, which most houses don’t have room for these days. Breakfast bar lights are a good way of separating this area off from the kitchen, by giving them a different source of lighting no matter how the rest of the room is lit. Breakfast bar lights are generally on a long support, to cover as much of the area as possible and make mornings that much brighter – never a bad thing, especially in an British winter.

Traditional light pendants in the style of lanterns look really good in a family room or study. They also look very effective in a hallway or porch, as long as the porch is fully enclosed and does not need a special outdoor fitment. The lantern style lends itself very well to the pendant light shape and gives a subtle light which is very restful.
